This is a gentle reminder to those of you who are still signed up to the WordPress site that the Blind Spot is in the process of migrating to Substack.
I’ve explained the rationale for this move here last year. The overall 2026 post-Politico strategy is laid out here.
Reality is, the extra admin of managing WordPress on top of Mailchimp (the absolutely horrible, horrible, horrible email send-out system I originally embroiled myself with) gets in the way of writing, speaking to contacts, and doing the stuff that adds value. It also regularly drives me up the wall.
The complexity means I just don’t have the time or bandwidth to reproduce the Daily Discord Linkfest on this platform. The Linkfest is now my reach product to draw subscribers on Substack. Separately, it’s even clunkier to send out emails in real time via Mailchimp, so I’ll refrain from doing so from now on. You’ll still get the Daily Blind Spot, which will have the links to the content we’ve posted in the last 24 hours, which you can log into, but unless Dario feels compelled to do it out of his own free will, it’s going to be very sporadic and limited to my very long reads and premium tier content, which is now unbundled and also publishing as The Peg.
I’m not really a fan of Substack, but for now, it remains the best of the worst — and will have to do until I have resources to invest in a fully functional site. Beggars can’t be choosers. [I know I go on about investment a lot, but you have to understand I was basically derailed for three years from making further commitments due to the complexity of the Politico position, which I can’t discuss.]
The advantage of Substack is that those who prefer to be alerted by email as soon as posts are published can receive such emails. If that feels too spammy, settings can be changed.
I’m writing this note mainly because I am aware that a lot of annual subs reboot in February. I don’t want to lock you in for another year on this, frankly, horrible site. If you have an annual sub that restarts later on, and would like to migrate before expiry, please email me on [email protected]. I will set you up on Substack. But remember to discontinue your payments on this site. [Unless you feel inclined to give me free money just for the hell of it]
